14 days post surgery and I am physically coming along fine - lost 19 lbs so far. I am very anxious and having trouble adjusting. Severe to mild panic attacks. Anyone Else? Or maybe some words of wisdom?
Thanks as always,
Lori

Anxiety is normal.  It's about going through alot of adjusting.  You just lost your best friend, food, so you are missing what has been your lifestyle for years.  Here's some words of wisdom.  It will pass, as time goes on, you will feel better and better, you will start to lose more weight, but beware, there will be a time when you will stall, don't panic, we ALL have had that happen.  Clothes will get bigger on you, people will start to notice.  Look at this as a new birth.  You have been given a tool that will allow you to become the person you have dreamed you could be.  So hang in there.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving, watch the carbs, and have some moist turkey

Thank you Diane - I am trying to focus on the positive and you are right? What do I do with myself now that I can't eat for my nerves? I know I have a ways to go and further down the road will be better.
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too!L.

I had mine right before Christmas 2 years ago and I was having a total meltdown, but once the Holidays were over I got better.  Your one month check up, when you see your weightloss, hey, you are going to be walking on a cloud and all of this will be behind you.  Thanks for the well wishes.  We are all here for you while you go through this, we have been there done that sort of thing.  You are not alone.

How sweet of you to say - I know I need to look forward and not back.  Hope to talk to you again soon. I will take your advice and keep it close. L.

Lori, Honey, First take a deep breath and try to relax... for some reason I haven't had any of the anxiety. I think part of that is due to the fact I didn't gain my weight so much from stress at first but because of the medication and my thyroid took a crap and I just wasn't able to get it off on my own. I had WLS so that I could have another surgery that Doctors couldn't and wouldn't perform until I was healthier (and thinner). If you want to know more PM me please.
But back to you...if the anxiety continues, call your surgeon and they can help you with counseling that specializes in WLS patients. Panic attacks are no fun and can cause you to do things to throw you off your program and I know that isn't what you what to happen. You are a real newbie so try to relax and please do find a support group and go!! It will help more than you can imagine.
HUGS AND LUCK
JOY

Thanks Joy - that is sweet. I am hopefully getting a counseling appt next week. And I have the possibility of a support group nearby. I know I need to give myself time to adjust.
I will be talking to you again soon.
Happy Thanksgiving,
